On February 24 2012 during NBA All Star weekend in Orlando FL. The Legends of Basketball (NBA Retired players Association) asked Mark to participate in the Hardwood Pioneers Reflect first ever Black History event. He was asked to sit on the panel as a "History Maker" due to the book with NBA legends such as Spencer Haywood, Dolph Schayes, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Julius Erving, Earl Lloyd (first African American to play in NBA) along with Sharon Robinson (daughter of Jackie Robinson) and Dr. Richard Lapchick (son of legendary coach/player Joe Lapchick).
